Tuchel shocked by repeated incident during Chelsea’s CL game with Porto
Thomas Tuchel was stunned by the poor behaviour of Porto’s staff during their Champions League tie with Chelsea yesterday.
Although Porto won the game 1-0, it was the Blues who progressed to the semi-final thanks to their two-goal advantage gained in the reverse fixture
Tempers flared after the final whistle, with players and representatives from both camps confronting each other on the pitch.
This anger had apparently continued throughout the match, with Porto being the main perpetrators.
As per the Telegraph, members of Sergio Conceicao’s team repeatably argued with Tuchel and put pressure on the officials.
Chelsea’s staff and substitutes also received ‘verbal abuse and goading’ from the Porto dugout.
All this unnecessary grief ‘shocked’ Tuchel, who appeared to keep a level head throughout the tie.
However, it was the Blues who got the last left, having completely outplayed their opponents across both leagues.
Porto had reportedly acted out similar misdemeanours against Manchester City during the group stages.
Last night left a sour note on what had been a decent run for Conceicao’s side in the European competition.
Knocking out Juventus in the previous round was certainly a highlight, but their apparent actions towards Chelsea damages that memory.
