Pat Nevin says Chelsea star is basically ‘unstoppable’ after watching him for his country

Pat Nevin has described Chelsea star Romelu Lukaku as almost “unstoppable” after his latest performance for his country.

Lukaku, 28, has been in inspired form during the international break.

The in-form centre-forward scored two goals during a 5-2 Belgium win over Estonia. Afterwards, he followed it up with a goal and assist in a 3-0 victory at home to Czech Republic on Sunday.

He will return to Stamford Bridge later this week and he’s suspended for Belgium’s next World Cup qualifier away to Belarus on Wednesday night.

Nevin has hailed Chelsea’s frontman Lukaku after watching him against the Czechs at the weekend.

His goal was a trademark left-footed finish into the bottom corner after racing through on goal, while his assist was an exquisite backheel pass.

“Against Czech Republic he was at it again though, basically showing that he was unstoppable, finishing after a superb through ball to notch his 67th for Belgium!” Nevin told the club’s official website.

Romelu Lukaku a force to be reckoned with

Unsurprisingly, Lukaku has looked superb in his international appearances.

He’s now got a staggering record of 67 goals in 100 Belgium caps, so that’s an indication of how important he is for his country.

There is no doubt he’ll return to Chelsea in a great mood and Blues manager Thomas Tuchel will hope his side benefit.

There is another international break coming in October, but there are six games to play before then.

Chelsea face Aston Villa, Tottenham and Manchester City in the Premier League. Also, they play Villa again in the Carabao Cup. The defence of the Champions League crown kickstarts with group stages matches against Zenit and Juventus, too.

It looks like a run of games where summer signing Lukaku can make the difference in some important meetings. However, there may be some doubt given he’s said he will have a scan on a thigh problem he’s had for a while.
