Chelsea are set to miss out on Achraf Hakimi as PSG are reportedly on the verge of sealing a move for the Inter Milan star.
The Blues and the Ligue 1 side have been fighting it out for the full-back’s signature as both clubs had opening offers of £56m rejected by the San Siro club.
Thomas Tuchel’s men had made a follow-up bid as they offered Marcos Alonso as a part-exchange, but it appears PSG have won the race for the former Real Madrid man.
Reports in Italy claim Inter have accepted a £60m offer with add-ons for Hakimi and the deal is nearing completion with the player favouring a move to Paris.
Inter put Hakimi on the shop window despite an impressive debut season in Italy as the Serie A club looks to ease the financial difficulties they find themselves in.
He said: The only one who is going to leave Inter for now is Hakimi who is also representing him. We have to work on the Lautaro issue but there is still no clear situation.”
Chelsea ‘s main priority is to sign a striker during this window but felt Hakimi was a good investment if he was available around the £55m mark.
But they were never willing to meet Inter’s £68.6m valuation of their prized asset as Mauricio Pochettino’s side look to have reached closer to that figure.
Brazil legend Ronaldo reckons PSG have an ‘extraordinary’ player on the hands and that Madrid should never have sold him to Inter.
Speaking earlier in the season, he said: “Achraf Hakimi is an extraordinary player. Real were wrong to let him go like that.
“It is one of Inter’s best deals of the last ten years. Every now and then I think to myself, ‘Ronnie, imagine yourself with Hakimi.’
