Chelsea Boss Thomas Tuchel wants urgent Chelsea transfer

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel will want to begin building his own squad in the summer transfer window.

Thomas Tuchel will reportedly sit down with Chelsea chiefs Marina Granovskaia and Petr Cech to discuss transfer plans for the summer with Timo Werner’s future set to be a hot topic. Tuchel took over as Chelsea manager at the end of the January transfer window and didn’t make any changes to his squad.

He said at the time that he was happy with the team that he inherited from Frank Lampard.

And he’s enjoyed a strong start to life as manager at Stamford Bridge with Chelsea into the semi-finals of the Champions League.

But Tuchel will have one eye on the summer transfer window and it appears as though improving his options up front is a main priority.

Olivier Giroud is out of contract in the summer while Tammy Abraham has fallen out of favour under Tuchel.

The biggest question mark hangs over the head of Werner, who has struggled since joining from RB Leipzig last summer.

The Germany international has scored just one Premier League since Tuchel took over from Lampard three months ago.

And he was left on the bench in the last two games against Porto and Crystal Palace.

Tuchel has favoured the likes of Kai Havertz, Christian Pulisic and Mason Mount recently to play in the front-three positions.

Now the Evening Standard report that Werner is facing a race against time to convince Tuchel that he has a future at Chelsea.

It is claimed that Tuchel will meet with Granovskaia and Cech in the near future with plans to target at least one forward in the transfer market.

Tuchel is said to be a ‘huge admirer’ of Sergio Aguero, while the report also points out that Chelsea are in the race to sign Erling Haaland.

The report does state that selling Werner after just one season hasn’t been discussed by Chelsea officials as of yet.

And Tuchel has reportedly offered him bags of support in private, but Werner’s future will be a topic of discussion in a meeting with Granovskaia and Cech.

Werner will be hoping to be restored to the starting line-up this weekend when Chelsea take on Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-final.

Despite not being on his best form, Werner has still managed to score 10 goals and provide 11 assists in all competitions.

However, it’s a far cry from the level of lethal finishing he showed in his final year at Leipzig when the striker bagged 34 goals.
