FIRST LADY AISHA ATTACKS BUHARI’S SOCIAL INVESTMENT PROGRAMME (READ DETAILS)

FIRST LADY AISHA ATTACKS BUHARI’S SOCIAL INVESTMENT PROGRAMME (READ DETAILS)

Aisha Buhari on Saturday vented her frustration on the Federal Government’s Social Investment Programme, SIP meant to help the poorest of the poor.

The wife of the president attacked the programme saying it has not yielded the required results in the north, according to a report by Vanguard.

The President’s wife stated this at an interactive programme for women at the Presidential villa, Abuja.

She disclosed that she was assured that 30,000 women will benefit from the programme from Adamawa but as the administration winds down, she was yet to hear from them.

The Social Investment Programme is under the control of Mrs. Maryam Uwais, who is the Special Adviser to the President.

According to her:

“Concerning the N500 billion voted for SIP, that was part of 2015 campaigns where they promised to give out N10,000, feed pupils in primary schools and give N5,000 to the poorest of the poorer.

“The SSA to the president on social investment is a lady from Kano and I’m sure that my husband decided to put somebody from Kano because of the population and political impact it made.

“I have never asked how the money is being used or is being given out. I met Barrister (one of the President aides on SIP) once and he promised me that for my state (Adamawa) we should get 30,000 women to be given N10,000. Up till now I haven’t heard from him.

“I don’t want to raise alarm that my state do not benefit from it, where SGF came from, I kept quiet because I don’t want people to say that I talk too much.

“Recently I saw a 74-year-old man selling petty things in Kano, I asked him how much is his capital, he told me between N3,000 and N4,000. Don’t forget that we have campaigned to give the poorest of the poor, N5,000 every month ..

“So I don’t know where the social investment… Maybe, It worked out in some states. In my own state, only a local government benefited out of the 22. I didn’t ask what happened and I don’t want to know but for it fail woefully in Kano, it’s not a good sign and it’s not a good thing.

“We have a lot of women that do business locally due to the cultural thing in the north, that are at home doing their businesses. Some are millionaires, some have thousands of naira, they need the assistance but they do not get it. Most northern women do not belong to any market association

“I was expecting that N500 billion to be utilized in different methods in the north for the aim to be achieved. I don’t know the method they used but most of the northern states do not get it. My state do not get it,” she said.

“How many of you get it in your state? My state did not benefit from it.” Women in the hall answer overwhelmingly.

Mrs. Buhari added, “It worked out well in a situation whereby they have market associations but I was thinking different methods should be used in the North.”

She also expressed reservations on the $16 million counterpart fund expended on mosquito nets.“I have heard about mosquito nets, Nigeria paid its counterpart fund, $16m. I asked them to give my own share of the net to send it to my village people. I didn’t get it.“

They have spent, $16 million on buying mosquito nets, I did not get it, maybe some people have gotten it. But I feel that, that’s my personal opinion, $16 million is enough to fumigate mosquitoes in Nigeria. That’s my opinion,” she said.Mrs. Buhari, however thanked the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha for including women in the inaugural activities of the president for second term.

“I will also like to use the opportunity to thank the SGF for including women in the inaugural activities of Mr. President, this is what is called next level. They didn’t allow us to participate in politics but now they have started given us hope that we can be involved in certain things,” she said.

She also disclosed how she managed to include herself in an anti drug committee chaired by a former military administrator of Lagos, Buba Marwa. She said, “I also managed to put myself as member of the committee and wife of the Vice President. The wife of the Vice President has worked very well, it took her one year to go round schools in Abuja because of the level of abuse.

Many girls don’t go to school because they are afraid of being raped while returning from school or when their parents are away.“You know most of their parents are farmers. The revelation is beyond comment. I asked her to publicize her discovery but she didn’t, if she had done so, it would have served as lesson.

”The wife of the president, disclosed that the president has provided N12 billion for the treatment of trauma cases in across the country.“Over N12 billion has been released by the president to take care of trauma cases in across the country. Can you please monitor the money?

The ministers are going very soon and the money are being released,” she said. She pleaded to the All Progressive Congress, APC, to refund the money women used in purchasing nomination forms in the last 2019 elections. She said women were marginalized in the elections despite their effort to get elected. She advised the women not to relent in the pursuit of their dreams and promised to continue to champion their course.

WE TARGETED SECONDARY SCHOOL GIRLS FOR MARATHON SEX – SUSPECT

A man identified as Tunde Akinboyewa, and a suspected cult member/rapist, Tunde Akinwumi, while being paraded by the Ondo State Police Command, confessed that they engage secondary school girls for marathon sex.

Reports have it that the suspects usually target secondary school girls hanging out in night clubs in Ondo.

Speaking on the mode of operation, one of the sources that gave policemen a tip-off on their activities, said that members of the group would visit night clubs at weekends and make friends with underage girls there and invite them to their homes for the night.

“Once the victims get to their houses, they are prevented from leaving for days and not until all the five suspected gang members had raped them in turns”, the source reveals

But one of the suspects while speaking with Vanguard, stated that they are not kidnappers as alleged by the police and the girls gave their consent to the sex marathon.

“We usually visit night clubs where we pick girls, take them home and have fun with them. Many of them oftentimes prefer to stay for days because we usually spoil them”, the suspect said. “Our targets are usually girls under 20 years”.

However the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Udie Adie said that acting on a tip-off of a kidnapping gang at a location, police detectives in Ondo arrested the two suspected cultists/rapists, while the others are still at large.

SHOCK AS FULANI HERDSMEN STORM AKOKO PALACE IN ONDO AND THREATEN TO KILL THE KING

Suspected Fulani herdsmen, numbering at least nine, have attacked the palace of Onigedegede of Gedegede in Akoko North-West Local Government Area of Ondo State, threatening to kill the monarch, Oba Walidu Sanni, The Independent reports.

The monarch said the suspected herdsmen stormed his palace, harassed and threatened him because he had reported the continued destruction of his subjects’ farm produce and farmlands to the police.

Consequently, Oba Sanni raised the alarm over the threat posed by the Fulani herdsmen to his life, his immediate family members and people of Gedegede Town.

The monarch said he reported the case to the police after he seized a gun and a cutlass which he deposited to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Okeagbe Police Station, Mr Johnson Akintola.

Speaking at a stakeholders’ parley initiated by the state government in order to douse the tension and apprehension in the council area, the monarch said the government’s timely intervention saved the situation from becoming bloody.

According to him, his subjects were spoiling for a showdown following the herdsmen’s invasion of the palace and subsequent harassment.

The traditional ruler noted that the incident was reported to the Chairman Akoko NorthWest Local Government Area, Samson Akande as well as fellow traditional rulers in the area.

According to him, the timely intervention of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu who deployed his Special Assistant on Security Matters, Alhaji Jimoh Dojumo, to douse the tension saved the tensed situation.

Dojumo at the meeting said carrying of arms and ammunition are prohibited while grazing in any part of the state.
Also, he said grazing between 6 am and 6 pm in the state is prohibited while no under-aged children should graze in the state.

Dojumo urged herdsmen to live with their host communities peacefully, assuring them that the governor would soon invite all the stakeholders for talks in a bid to find lasting solutions to the incessant clashes.

NAIRA MARLEY: RUGGEDMAN VOWS TO SUE KEMI OLUNLOYO FOR DEFAMATION

Recently, controversial blogger, Kemi Olunloyo, stated that rapper, Ruggedman was instrumental to the arrest of another artiste, Naira Marley, on allegations of fraud.

Ruggedman’s lawyers have, however, written to Olunloyo, asking her to “retract, cease and desist from further defamation of the character of Ruggedman.”

The blogger was warned to take down the posts she had already made on social media against Ruggedman or civil actions would be taken against her.

In a chat recently, Ruggedman stated that his lawyers had been instructed on what to do if Olunloyo failed to comply with their demands. .

He said, “The next step has been clearly stated in my lawyers’ letter to her. They will act accordingly if she fails to stop.” On what he thinks her motives are for ‘attacking’ him, Ruggedman said, “I wouldn’t know her state of mind or her motives.

My interest is her not using her platform or any platform to defame my name and spread false information that could incite people into actions that threaten my peace and safety. That is against the law.” The Ehen rapper also insisted that he didn’t speak against Naira Marley, but rather cautioned him. “I didn’t speak against Naira Marley. .

I only cautioned a young artiste from saying what I knew would not go down well with the authorities. It is who I am and I will always be me. I stand for what’s right, whether for myself or another person,” he said.

PREPARE FOR CONSEQUENCES OF YOUR ACTION – DSS TELLS IPOB

The Department of State Services has warned those behind the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra to have a rethink or be prepared to face the consequences of their action.

According to the service, it is prepared to maintain adequate security across Nigeria, saying it will not allow any person or group to obstruct the freedom of law-abiding citizens.

A spokesperson for the DSS, Peter Afunnaya, said this in a telephone interview with Punch, in Abuja, on Friday.

He was reacting to the May 30 sit-at-home order given by the IPOB in the South-East. Afunnaya said, “The service will not condone people taking the law into their hands and obstructing the freedom of others.

The constitution is clear on the fundamental human rights of people and no person should deliberately infringe on the rights of anyone outside the laws of the land.

“The service in the line of its mandate will ensure that adequate security is maintained in all parts of the country and people who take the law into the hands or cause the breakdown of law and order should be ready to face the consequences.”

He explained that for the avoidance of doubt, the warning applied to “all subversive elements” operating under any guise.

Meanwhile, the sit-at-home order by IPOB has continued to generate mixed reactions from some residents of Enugu State.

DANIELLA OKEKE BREAKS SILENCE ON ALLEGATIONS THAT SHE SLEPT WITH APOSTLE SULEMAN

Nigerian actress, Daniella Okeke who was enmeshed in a s-x scandal with Apostle Johnson Suleman has finally opened up on allegations that she slept with the man of God.

Recall that she kept her cool all through the drama when Stephanie Otobo alleged at a press conference in March 2017, that during one of her intimate times with the Apostle Suleman, he allegedly told her that one Daniella Okeke, an actress, was one of his ex-girlfriends who he had threesomes with. At the press conference, she said that Apostle Suleman doesn’t eat much and that he loves s-x a lot.

He can’t really eat. I noticed that about him. Most of the times we spent together, we had s*x. I refused to have threesome with him because I am not a lesbian and I don’t like women touching me. He told me he had threesome with all his past girlfriends. I was the only one that is very rude, that can’t do that with him”. Otobo claimed.

Asked if he mentioned names of his past girlfriends, she said “I don’t know if I want to involve anybody right now. He told me his ex-girlfriend, Daniella Okeke, some actress girl”.

Reacting, Daniella in a post she shared and deleted on her Instagram page asked Stephanie to come out and clear her name from the scandal.

While dragging Otobo, the Nollywood actress didn’t spare Ghanaian actress, Moesha Boduong, whom she claimed she has a lot of evidences against.

Threatening Otobo, Daniella wrote:

“You bitch, I don’t know who you are, but you came to call my name out of nowhere?! All of a sudden, you disappeared. Afterwards, you changed your name. No way, you have to tell the world the truth, Miss Otobo. I have kept quiet for too long.

God will punish you wherever you are. I woke up on social media like everyone else on that day when you called my name on the internet. The way you called my name, better go and uncall it or else, the next 24 hours won’t be funny.”

On Moesha, she added:

“They told you not to post ur location abi? Don’t worry I ve it all I will open it soon!!! With evidence so don’t even be foolish @moeshaboduong Abi …..I ve ur watz app chart with ur numbers.”

ABORTION IS NOT OKAY IT’S LIKE HIRING A HIT MAN – POPE FRANCIS

Pope Francis, has shared his thoughts on abortion saying it should not be condoned in the church as it is like hiring a hit-man to take a life.

Pope Francis said this while speaking to a Vatican-sponsored anti-abortion conference.

In his words:

“Is it licit to throw away a life to resolve a problem?” he asked. “Is it licit to hire a hitman to resolve a problem?”

Francis stamped his foot against abortion based on prenatal testing, saying a human being is “never incompatible with life.”

‘Even those babies destined to die at birth or soon thereafter deserve to receive medical care in the womb, ‘Francis said, adding that their parents must get support so they don’t feel isolated and afraid.

‘While one can argue about using medical resources this way, there is value to it for the parents,’ he said.

“Taking care of these children helps parents to grieve and not only think of it as a loss, but as a step on a path taken together,” Francis said.

3 PATIENTS SECRETLY SNEAK OUT OF HOSPITAL IN PORT HARCOURT AFTER FAILING TO PAY BILLS

3 PATIENTS SECRETLY SNEAK OUT OF HOSPITAL IN PORT HARCOURT AFTER FAILING TO PAY BILLS

Three patients at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital reportedly sneaked out of the health facility without paying the balance of their bills running into hundreds of thousands of naira, Sunday Punch reports.

The patients, it was gathered, were due for discharge, but were left in the hospital because they could not pay the balance of their bills.

According to Sunday Punch, it was gathered that the incident, which happened at the Gynaecology Unit of the UPTH on Tuesday, May 14, 2019, caused confusion among medical workers in the unit.

It was learnt that one of the senior medical workers in the unit was furious with the security personnel on duty when the incident happened.

The gate was only opened when doctors and other health workers came in to do their jobs while only a few visitors were allowed into the unit on self-recognition.

A source at the hospital told Sunday Punch that the development forced them to lock the gate leading to the unit in order to forestall a recurrence of the incident.

It was learnt that one of the private security personnel was queried for failing to notice when the patients sneaked out of the facility.

However, some visitors to the unit, who came to see their ailing relatives, were barred from entering the hospital the following day because of the incident.

A middle-aged man, who gave his name only as Julius, attributed the action of the patients to the high cost of treatment at the teaching hospital.

Julius, who was at the hospital to see his ailing relative and was stopped at the small gate to the Gynaecology Unit, explained that most Nigerians were facing hard times.

He added outrageous health bills would be difficult to accept.

However, several efforts made to get the reaction of the UPTH spokesperson, Elabha Meni, proved unsuccessful as she insisted that our reporter must come to her office between the morning hours and 4pm before she could talk.

Meni was not in her office when Sunday Punch called at her office and she did not respond to several calls made to her mobile.

She also did not respond to several text messages sent to her mobile.

When our correspondent called on Saturday, Meni said, “I don’t work that way. I like to see who I am talking with and that is my policy.”
