AC Milan are planning on activating their option to buy Fikayo Tomori from Chelsea this summer, Football Insider can reveal.

The England international has made a big impression at the Serie A giants since joining in January on loan from the Premier League club.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Milan have made it clear to Chelsea they intend to take up the option to buy Tomori, 23, that was inserted into the temporary deal.

It is believed it will cost £25million rising to a potential £30m with add-ons for the Italian outfit to sign the centre-back permanently.

He has verbally indicated to Milan he would jump at the chance to join full-time this summer.

Barring an unlikely sequence of events, it appears that Tomori may have played his last game for Chelsea.

He made just one Premier League appearance for the Premier League club in the first half of the season and was virtually frozen out by ex-manager Frank Lampard.

That came as a surprise to many Blues fans as he had been a regular starter last season and had also thrived under Lampard while on loan at Derby County two seasons ago.

Tomori has reignited a career that has brought him one England cap during his time in Italy.

He has made eight Serie A starts among 14 appearances in all competitions, starting at centre-back in the last five league matches.
